How to remove spider veins is something many women young and old want to know.
I myself spent years trying to get rid of this embarrassing affliction caused by these little veins on my legs. These little spider-like veins are somewhat similar to varicose veins only smaller.
Many a summer was spent hiding my legs from view.
Women are 4 times more likely to suffer from them compared to men.
There are many reasons as to why you may have this problem.
Being overweight, ageing (of course), hereditary, menopause (changes in estrogen levels), pregnancy, standing for long periods of time. Sitting for long periods of time, smoking, poor circulation, and taking the contraceptive pill.

These veins are usually found on the legs, back of the calves, thighs and face.
You can choose from home remedies, laser treatment or sclerotherapy.
Sclerotherapy is something I tried, unfortunately, for me, the spider veins returned. Although, they do not seem to return for everyone who has this type of treatment.
There are some side effects to having Sclerotherapy, such as lumps, swelling, inflammation, allergy to the solution being used. The veins will also return if there is not enough compression used afterward.
I haven’t tried laser treatment, I can’t give you my opinion.
When looking at these types of treatments for how to remove spider veins, both are quite costly.
Home remedies may take longer to achieve results, however, they are much cheaper.
How To Remove Spider Veins Naturally
There are many options you can choose from when it comes to removing spider veins naturally.
For me what seemed to work best was doing leg exercises, designed to help improve blood flow to my legs.
I also used apple cider vinegar and cayenne pepper.
Apple Cider Vinegar
This one is always up there as one of the best home remedies you can do.
Pour apple cider vinegar into a bowl and soak a cloth in it and wrap around the spider veins, do this about 3 times a day for 10 to 15 min.
Alternatively, you can massage vinegar into the veins.
Apple cider vinegar will improve circulation and contains anti-inflammatory properties.
You should see an improvement within 3 to 4 weeks of doing this daily.
Use raw, unrefined apple cider vinegar for best results. And along with this method, you can also drink a small amount daily mixed with water.
This is an extremely powerful spice, and often recommended for weight loss. By the same token, it is also good for removing spider veins.
Cayenne pepper will improve blood circulation and help release the build up of blood in the veins. It is very rich in vitamin C.
1 small teaspoon in a cup of boiled water.
Drink 3 times a day, morning, noon and evening. It doesn’t taste great, nevertheless, you will get used to it.
If drinking this mixture doesn’t appeal to you, rub cayenne pepper (crushed pepper pods) mixed with aloe vera juice into the veins.
This is another popular one often recommended for how to remove spider veins.
Soak a cotton ball in the witch hazel, place on the spider veins for a few minutes 2 to 3 times a day.
Use distilled witch hazel.
You may notice improvement quite quickly or it could take a few weeks.
For an even greater effect, you can combine apple cider vinegar and witch hazel together and massage the spider veins.
Along with daily leg exercises, I used witch hazel and apple cider vinegar sometimes together and other times separately.
This is another remedy often recommended for how to remove spider veins.
Removing Spider Veins With Oils
Warm up a small amount of castor oil a couple of times a day and massage the veins.
Always massage in upward strokes towards the heart and be gentle, not too hard. You may cause more of them.
Another effective way of removing spider veins with castor oil is to heat it up and soak a flannel cloth in the oil until it has absorbed as much of the oil it can.
Place the cloth over your spider veins and place a hot water bottle or heat pack over the cloth. Allow 30 minutes or so each session.
Castor oil contains anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
When looking to buy castor oil always buy cold pressed and avoid commercial brands full of chemicals.
Cypress essential oil, massage a few drops of the oil into your veins twice a day.
You can also try massaging warm coconut oil on spider veins twice a day.
How to remove spider veins through massage is a great way to help them fade.
Mustard oil is another good one, mix some with a carrier oil and massage into veins a couple of times a day. Mustard oil is good for improving blood flow.
In between using apple cider vinegar, I would sometimes massage using warm coconut oil.
Massage gently, not too hard as this can cause more veins to appear.
All of the above home remedies, usually take a couple of months before you will notice a difference in the appearance of veins.
Removing Spider Veins With Herbs And Supplements
Butchers Broom, Bilberry, Grapeseed Extract, Hawthorn Extract and Goto Kola Extract.
These herbs help improve circulation.
Vitamin C and Vitamin K.
You can buy products designed for treating spider veins. These will have combinations of some of the above herbs.
I have not taken any herbs, I do, though, take vitamin C daily.
A couple of other things to include when trying to remove spider veins is to drink plenty of water.
Elevate the end of your bed so your feet are above your heart.
I use a couple of pillows, alternatively, you can place a couple of telephone books under the mattress.
Elevating your legs in this way helps reduce pressure and therefore, improve blood flow from your feet, ankles, and legs to your heart.
How to remove spider veins is being persistent. For this reason, the little veins will fade and you will have the legs you want.
It took me a couple of months of massaging and exercises before I started to see results.
Another thing to consider is how you breathe. Breathing properly increases circulation.
Remember always use a natural sunscreen on your legs and face to help prevent more spider veins.
The best foods to eat for helping clear up the veins is pumpkin seeds, garlic, avocado, and oranges.
